Alright this is something that needs to work on as well, how people actually live up there and prosper without dying horribly.
The option most people are gonna think of first is: magic. Magic can make food, water, and materials but like transportation, high level magic isnt common place.
The next option is what they have in the sky, mountains with trees ontop and minerals below and flouting islands with trees and water with the possiblity of minerals (especially the ones used to make ships float)
The problem here is that these floating islands arnt easy to find any mountains or islands that have plant life or water have probable been near tapped, or are protected by someone.
That being said there are alot of mountains to get minerals from, and there can places where trees and water are especially abundant because of magical properties, plus people can hunt animals that live in the air, one of my ideas is a giant flying turtle that has plants growing on its back that people can harvest.
The last solution is going down to the surface, cause there are alot of everything down their already.
The problem is the curse is that not many people are dumb enough to do that.
