Ok, Eric and I talked a little about travel in Amael and we need some feed back.
Here is what we got so far.
Airships: This is the most obvious and common mode of travel, kingdoms need airships because they are reliable and easily manufactured... kinda.
Now, since most books say that they are hella expensive we have come up with three options-
-Decrease the price because its an air-based campain. The second option is that people take peices from the giant floating rocks and stick them in stuff to make them float.
And if anyone is trying to figure out if I either got the idea from the Planar Handbook or stole is from Escaflone; I did both. Shut up, Im doin' it anyways.
The third idea is using industial level technilogy, i.e. zeplins. This idea is more for flavor because they will be hella unrealible compared to the last two options.
Living creatures: Big flying things like Dire bats or Giant Eagles are a good idea if your trying to go a short distance (or are in erics realm where there are alot of mountains to land on) But the best idea would be creates that are naturally flying all the time like Windghosts or Arrowhawks. Im also in the process of making other big flying monsters that dont talk, one of which is a giant tutle... but I'll get into that later.
Teleportation: Works very well for heavy magic kingdoms or cities lucky enough to find these teleportation devices called Azure-Gates (think Mehirs in Faerun) but this is a lesser option considering most places dont have access to a high level wizard.
Windships: This is a step above teleportation. Windships are cheap but they are tricky; wind tunnels move seasonally making direct travel improbable and they require alot of skill to use, most people think of windships as too dangerous and is regarded into something like hitchhicking, not to mention the danger of monsters that lurk within windtunnels.
