okay i have an idea bout planer relations that i decided that i should share with you all. first of all this is going to be a mouthful.
but first i should tell you that many settings in DnD have different definations of planer reactions, like spelljamer, planescape, and darksun and various other settings. but the one i will be working with is plane scape, what i think the best system is.
okay here is the idea, and i think it would go a good ways to explaining why there are other parts of worlds, with brand new races yet the continent that your character is in, has never heard of them.
its a problem in realism i belive in DnD for things to be unknown, on the material plane. when in truth your character could jsut go to the plane of the dead and talk to people who are dieing. if you go to the plane of the dead and see a new race, you can walk up to them and ask "hey where are you from?" they eventaully tell you, and bam a new race is dicovered.
due to just the amount of information that a person on the planes can get, nothing on the material plane should ever really be a mystery. you wanna find out hwat kinda people inhabited this anchient ruins? go to the outer planes and ask around with some of the insanly old beings that inhabit the plane.
here is my idea, and it will require some explaining.
my basic idea is in 3 parts that would solve a lot of things about the planes for me.
first. two of the same plane can be in existance at the same time in the same cosmology.
second. no person truly knows the extent of all the planes in a cosmology.
third. due to the forgetfulness of petitioners lost of information of the past would be lsot forever.
im going to take these in order, in the next at least 3 posts over the next day or so.
