Over the centuries the lycanthrope of lycanthral have developed there own language and culture. It should be known that the majority of natural lycanthrope find the idea of afflicting others with lycanthropy distasteful. Usually a practiced reserved in emergency of war, or to increase numbers or the tribe. The most common violator of this law are the werewolves and wererats. These two are also the most common lycanthrope found outside of lycanthral.
The various tribes on the island are not allied and often war among each other over territory. However it is rare that any tribe would ever attempt to outright eliminate the other.
While lycanthropes are often viewed as beasts who fight with out tooth in claw the various tribes of lycanthral often forge weapons of various kinds to wield in there hybrid state.
To protect themselves the various tribes attempt to gather up any and all silver on the island they can find. Often making these items into jewelry with witch to trade to the mainland with.
A Common misconception about the lycanthropes of lycanthral is that they survive solely on hunting and gathering. Numerous tribes who live in the south plaines of the island grow there own food much as normal humans do on the mainland.
The vast majority of the tribes share a common distrust for outlanders. non-lycans form outside lycanthral. Only a few tribes activly engaging in trading with outsiders.
An interesting foot note in history is around 400 years ago an army sailing from the Dark Continent landed on lycanthral. It is estimated they numbered between 2 and 5 thousand. There goal was to construct a base and a teleportation gate, from witch they could launch attacks to conquer the mainland. The army had expected to find simple tribesmen. Instead they found a horde of lycanthropes descending down upon them. According to the stories past down my the lycan’s themselves they left no surrivors.
The Garr Empire faced a similar defeat two centuries later in what was called by some, the bloodiest war sense the founding of the empire.
The various tribes of lycanthral have varous methods of leadership.
Among the werebear a council of elders is most common. Often times these elders are elected by the rest of the tribe. Though usually the elders still choose the candidates for the position.
The werewolves and rats are usually led in a manner similar to orcs. Among the wolves the strongest and toughest werewolf usually rules the pack. The alpha male. In larger tribes this is usually a werewolf lord. A much stronger type of werewolf.
Among the wererats its usually the sneakiest and the most clever who rules. Quite surprisingly these leaders aren't deposed as often as you might think. Many rule for decades before war with another tribe, or more likely an usurper takes them down.
The wereboars are almost always with out fail ruled by the single elder warrior one who has led them successfully in battle. Normally an the elder chief will choose his successor and train them for the day they will rule the tribe. More often then not it is the elder’s own son or grandson who takes this position.
The werecrocs have almost on contested rule of the marshlands. As few other lycanthropes have any reason to venture into the putrid swamp. These lycans tend to build huts up on stilts above the swamp water, but spend most of there time in there animal form waiting for prey. Of all lycanthropes these are the least likely to afflict another human being and the most likely to eat them.
Like with the wolves and rats the largest and the strongest rules here. Among there kind this is usually a female.
