Taken below from the SRD
Taking 20: "if you did attempt to take 20 on a skill that carries penalties for failure, your character would automatically incur those penalties before he or she could complete the task. Common “take 20” skills include Escape Artist, Open Lock, and Search."
So when that rouge takes a 20 to disable the trap. (and the trap will go off if he fails by 5 or more) the trap will go off. Now the same does not apply to taking 10. When you take 10 thats all that happneds you don't get the result of a roll of 10. Nothing lower nothing higher
