Across the Great Eastern Sea is a mysterious land. The Continent is estimated to be half the size of Quel’Shar, not counting the northlands. It is a place ruled by a small council of ancient vampires numbering around half a dozen.
Contact was first made 250 years ago. One of the vampire lords sent an expeditionary force 20,000 strong including a several hundred vampires. In the first few weeks the army dead immersive damage to cities and villages before the Imperial Army annihilated them all.
Over the years smaller strike forces have attacked villages up and down the coast capturing people and whisking them away across the sea never to be seen again. A few brave, foolish or some would say vile merchants trade back and forth between the Dark Continent and Quel’Shar. They rarely take the imperial passages as the empire requires heavy taxes on goods from the Dark Continent and any ship that refuses to be searched is destroyed crew and all.
Thankfully the Vampire Lords are not a untied goverment and are often competing for control over land and resources. To support the humans the vampries feed on.
Well the stories say the land has vampires at ever corner what intelligent has been gathered shows this isn’t true.
The Vampires Lords don’t rule in the traditional sense. The various kingdoms pay tribute in gold, magic items, livestock(the humankind) and troops. None of the kingdoms are large enough alone to challenge an Individual Vampire Lord and when they untied against one they are attacked by the combined efforts of all the Vampire Kings.
The attacks on Quel’Shar are attempts at forcing more nations to pay them tribute.
